Two Finistère companies appear in the Top 50 of the Women Equity 2020 Palmarès, an annual barometer of SMEs and mid-cap companies, produced in partnership with France Bleu, which stood out for their success in 2020, all headed by women. Among them, Bremat, in Morlaix, which does public works, and Cadiou, in Locronan, manufacturer of gates and fences, which employs 500 people and achieved a turnover of 62 million euros in 2019.
Empathy and well-being
At its head, Emmanuelle Legault, who took over the reins of the family business at the age of 30. She shares management with her husband and brother-in-law, but she is the CEO. And for the CEO, being a woman at the head of such a company allows a different approach in her market. Particular attention is paid “to the well-being of the people who will use our products. We are perhaps more interested in the use, Emmanuelle Legault analysis. Instead of being interested in the industrial tool, we are interested in the lives of children, the lives of guests, the intimacy we want to have to barbecue with friends. I think I managed to bring that touch to the company. And from a manufacturer of gates, we have become a manufacturer of outdoor living spaces.“
And within her company, Emmanuelle Legault is committed to having a management that allows everyone to flourish. “With us, there is a gym, there is an interest in eating well, there is a nurse, a social worker, etc. In a company run exclusively by men, empathy towards employees may be less strong, notes the CEO of Cadiou. Or they don’t dare. I dare a lot. I tell myself that I would like to be treated like that if I was an employee, I would like my company to think about that, so I try.”
Make little girls want
Emmanuelle Legault also leaves a lot of freedom to the human resources departments. “Before the Covid, we had a sophrologist who came to give free lessons to our employees during their break time, we had a gymnastics coach, we try things more easily for the well-being.”
And the company is still growing and has great projects for 2021. Emmanuelle Legault says to herself “very proud to be located in Locronan and to give employment to all these people“. She also hopes to make”all the little girls“to imagine yourself as a business owner.
