Cabinet still gives 10,000 former pardoners a passport

State Secretary Broekers-Knol (Asylum Affairs) has decided to make an exception for them to this requirement. She wrote this in a letter to the House of Representatives.

Public order

The House of Representatives had already urged several times to accommodate this group, including about 2,000 young adults. The former pardonners must still meet the other conditions for naturalization.

For example, a request can be rejected if someone is a threat to public order or national security.

Issues

Refugee Work offered the House of Representatives a further statement on this issue last week petition On. The organization then pointed out that in practice these people run into all kinds of problems and that, for example, they cannot get married or take out a mortgage.
