Cabinet releases extra money for event industry: 135 million euros in support | Inland

Last Monday, the cabinet already apologized for letting go of corona measures too quickly. As a result, the number of infections went through the roof. Despite the excuse, the House of Representatives has a bone to pick with the cabinet. That debate will start on Wednesday afternoon in the Ridderzaal.

Just over an hour before the start, the ministries of Economic Affairs, Education and the Interior have announced that they will give extra compensation to entrepreneurs who have been squeezed by the corona swab. After the peak in infections, the cabinet reversed previous relaxations. For example, the nightlife had to be closed again and summer events were canceled.

The cabinet will expand the existing guarantee scheme for the events sector. For example, the maximum subsidy amount goes from 80 to 100 percent of the costs incurred. In addition, the cabinet is extending the term to submit an application, and costs incurred for artists from outside the EU are also covered by the scheme.

The government is also looking for a targeted solution for entrepreneurs who are in danger of falling between two stools. The extensions involve an amount of 135 million euros.
