Cabinet plan for 2G: in three weeks no more corona pass after test

The outgoing cabinet will make preparations to only give people a corona entry ticket if they have been fully vaccinated or have had corona. The ministers are aiming for an introduction of the 2G system in three weeks, insiders say. The possibility to get a QR code even with a negative test then disappears.

The law must be changed before it is introduced. The preparation for this is now starting, but it is complicated. A condition for the introduction is that the House of Representatives gives its prior consent. For smaller corona measures, permission afterwards is sufficient.

The cabinet also wants to lay down in law that one and a half meters away will be mandatory again. And the corona ticket will also be needed in zoos and amusement parks, but that too still has to be legally prepared.

The cabinet discussed the measures with the mayors this morning and then put the finishing touches in the Covid Ministerial Committee.

As leaked yesterday, more measures are also on the way. For example, there is talk of a ‘partial lockdown’ of three weeks, with consequences for the catering industry, shops and home visits.

Tonight at 7 p.m. Prime Minister Rutte and Minister De Jonge will give another press conference, which will be broadcast by the NOS on NPO 1, NOS.nl and NPO Politics is broadcast live.
