Cabinet is considering accelerating the next step towards easing | Inland

It would mean that restaurants and cultural institutions could open a few days earlier than planned. Households should also be allowed to receive more people at home, namely four. Whether the acceleration will take place depends on further positive figures about infections and hospital admissions, among other things. On Saturday it became clear that for the fifth day in a row there has been a decline in the number of corona patients in care.

The Dutch infection figures, the number of positive tests, have also been declining for some time. In combination with the fact that more and more people are being vaccinated, in total more than eight million injections have been taken, this results in an increasingly positive picture. The cabinet will make a decision around May 31 whether step three of the opening plan can start earlier.

Secondary schools open

In addition to the further approach to the corona crisis towards the summer, with attention to both the scaling down of the measures and the crisis structure, the cabinet also spoke with experts about the full opening of secondary education. It has been decided that secondary schools will reopen fully on May 31.

Two weeks ago, the cabinet announced a second round of easing. Last Monday it turned out that the corona figures had improved enough that the widening could continue two days later. This meant, among other things, that terraces could be open longer, that people could sweat again in the gym and that zoos and amusement parks could open their doors again.
