In recent weeks, there has been a significant daily growth of positive corona tests.

Today there was another day record: 7393 people tested positive for SARS-Cov-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. In the past week, nearly 44,000 people tested positive for SARS-Cov-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. That is 16,500 more than a week earlier and more than twice as many as two weeks ago.

The cabinet has therefore decided today that stricter measures are needed to ensure that the number of infections decreases. Action is taken in those places where the risk of transmission of the virus is greatest. By limiting the number of contact moments and travel movements, supporting people in complying with the ground rules and stricter enforcement.

The government is aware that the tightening of the measures has an impact on society and the economy, but says that this step is necessary to get and keep the virus under control. Stay with that the basic measures in full force:

  • Always keep a distance of 1.5 meters.
  • Do not go to places where it is busy.
  • Sneeze and cough into your elbow.
  • Wash your hands often with soap.
  • Wear a face mask where necessary.
  • Do you have a cold? Then stay at home!
  • Do you have a fever or are you short of breath? Then all housemates must stay at home.
  • Work from home as much as possible.

The cabinet wants to intervene as effectively as possible. But the higher the number of infections, the less detailed the measures. The insight into and the predictability of the spread of the virus is enhanced by the testing policy, the crownedhboard with added a roadmap with 4 risk levels whereby it is clear to everyone which measures are needed at what time, de app CoronaMelder as support in source and contact research and tightened legislation and enforcement. The government wants to increase the insight and predictability of the spread of the virus in order to be able to make quick and targeted adjustments and to prevent the spread of the virus where the virus flares up.

Sequel

The national measures apply from Wednesday 14 October at 10:00 PM. In the weeks to 27 October, the cabinet will assess what is needed for the period thereafter. There must be sufficient evidence to reduce the number of infections and the pressure on regular care before it can be said with certainty that the measures are effective and can therefore be reconsidered.
