The Hague – For the time being, the cabinet is ignoring the advice of the Mining Council to fill the Dutch gas storages as much as possible because of the gas crisis with Russia. The Netherlands’ largest gas storage facility for high-calorific gas, in Bergermeer, is currently only filled to 68%. The Mijnraad calls this reticence ‘unwise’. Energy experts also express their concerns. “I miss the sense of urgency in the Netherlands. The government is quite naive.”
