The Cabinet of Ministers approved a plan of measures to prevent the abuse of excessive influence by persons with significant economic and political weight in public life (oligarchs). The corresponding decision was made today at a government meeting, the OstroV correspondent reports.
The decision was made in pursuance of the “law on oligarchs”. Among the planned activities:
– strengthening the Antimonopoly Committee;
– the obligatory state registration of lobbying and the state register of lobbyists – until December 2022;
– ensuring fair and effective justice (Supreme Court, High Council of Justice, CCU) until December 2023;
– ensuring the security of the supply of electricity and natural gas until March 2022;
– cessation of electricity imports from Russia and Belarus until September 2023;
– reduction of the oligarchs’ abuse of influence on the media until December 2022;
– strengthening control over the financial transactions of the oligarchs until December 2022;
– minimizing the influence of oligarchs on political parties and election campaigns until September 2022;
– the inevitability of punishment for political corruption until June 2022;
– bringing the level of tariffs for railway transportation to economically justified ones by December 2022;
– creation of an airline independent from the influence of the oligarchs until December 2022;
– international legal instruments of protection do not apply to investments of Ukrainian beneficial owners of companies registered in foreign jurisdictions – during 2022-23.
