Chevron’s subsidiary in Angola, Cabinda Gulf Oil Company Limited (CABGOC), today signed an agreement to implement a project to reinforce the livelihoods of fishing communities in the municipalities of Cabinda and Cacongo.
The initiative aims to contribute to improving income generation and the quality of fish sold by these communities and will be developed within the scope of CABGOC’s social investment strategy to improve access to more efficient fishing methods, financial services and create skills for fish processing.
“This project fits into our economic and social development strategy for the population of Cabinda, aiming to reinforce their well-being and improve income generation”, said Luísa Nunes, director of Corporate Relations at Chevron in Cabinda.
The project valued at 373,000 US dollars, lasts 24 months and will be carried out by the NGO PanAfricare, in the municipalities of Cabinda and Cacongo, benefiting around 200 fishermen, and more than 3,000 indirect beneficiaries in the 28 identified communities.
CABGOC has been operating in Angola for over 65 years, over which it has developed social actions in areas such as health, education and economic development to promote the well-being of the communities where it operates.
