Cabanillas del Campo Women’s Center announces ‘Alice Guy Women in Cinema Castilla-La Mancha Awards’

In the framework of the twentieth anniversary of Cabanillas del Campo Women’s Centerthe Minister of Equality, Sara Simón, announced the upcoming publication of the resolution of the ‘Alice Guy Women in Cinema Castilla-La Mancha Awards’.

This second edition of the awards, which promote and celebrate film scripts with a female signature, demonstrates the commitment of the regional government to the promotion of female talent in the film industry.

Los ‘Alice Guy Awards’which pay tribute to the first woman filmmaker, Alice Guy-Blaché, will recognize the two best scripts written individually or collectively by women, with two monetary awards of 17,000 euros each. These awards are not only a way to make visible the forgotten talent of women in the history of cinema, but also a significant boost for contemporary creators.

Sara Simon highlighted the importance of these awards as an opportunity to value the work of women in the world of cinema and to balance historically masculinized sectors.

“Our goal is to highlight and support the valuable work that women contribute to the world of culture, especially in the cinematographic field,” said the counselor.

In the first edition of the awards, the Castilian-La Mancha screenwriters María Justina ‘Tina’ Rodríguez Olivares and Natalia Díaz Martínez were the winners, being recognized for their scripts ‘Celestina’ and ‘The Last Train’, respectively. This recognition not only celebrates the creativity of women in cinema, but also her contribution to narrative and cinematic art.
