The textile retail chain C&A wants to close 13 of its 450 stores in Germany this year. Branches in Saxony-Anhalt, Baden-Württemberg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Lower Saxony, Bavaria, Berlin and Brandenburg are affected, a company spokesman reported on Friday.
The “textile industry” had previously reported on the closure plans.
“We constantly check our branch network and decide on the basis of location-dependent market analyzes whether we will modernize, close or open a branch,” emphasized the C&A spokesman.

The number of pinnacles affected could therefore decrease or increase slightly over the course of the year. C&A is trying to offer employees jobs in other branches, the “textile industry” reported.
The fashion retailer is Germany’s third largest clothing retailer according to the latest ranking by the specialist journal, but has had to contend with a drop in sales in recent years.
