According to information provided by the Ministry of Public Security, it was at 8:55 p.m. on Friday, April 23, that the 911 call was received from one of the Ecuadorians who requested support, since he and other migrants were lost in the desert. from Arizona.

In the call, the reporter specified that among the 10 people there were four minors, one of them an 11-month-old baby, so C5i Nogales personnel immediately activated the “Carbyne” geolocation system.

Likewise, binational protocols were quickly activated, reporting the situation to the Border Patrol liaison at the Sonoita, Arizona station, who immediately deployed the units to the coordinates provided by the C5i Nogales personnel.

In an estimated time of 20 minutes, the Ecuadorians were found in the Santa Cruz area by Border Patrol agents, who transferred them to receive medical attention, reporting that they were in good health.

The state agency highlighted that since the implementation of the “Carbyne” geolocation system last December 2020 to date, 395 migrants have been located and rescued in coordination with US authorities.
