This was announced this Wednesday by the Minister of Equality and spokesperson for the regional Executive, Blanca Fernandezwho has revealed that for the flu, 600,000 vaccines worth 7.5 million have been purchased and for meningitis a total of 26,000 vaccines worth 800,000 euros.
Regarding the first vaccine, Fernández stressed that COVID “is still there”, for which he stressed that it is “very important” that the next campaign be “intense” to reach the largest number of vaccinated.
“These two respiratory infections can add up not only causing public health problems, but also causing problems in the regional health system.” For this reason, he has assured that the objective of the regional government with this acquisition is “to retain mortality and protect both patients at risk and people who, due to their activity, are at risk of contagion.”
All in all, the regional Executive expects to reach figures similar to those of last year, where 88.5% of people over 60 years of age were vaccinated.
As for the meningitis vaccine, this is also “very important to protect both minors and young people.” “It is about betting on prevention against these diseases that have not yet been eradicated”, highlighted the regional spokeswoman, and it is that “the commitment to vaccination is something strategic for the Government” and a matter “that does not hurt garments to follow investing to improve health in Castilla-La Mancha”.
