Chinese media outlet LatePost reported on Monday that ByteDance’s gaming unit Nuverse was in talks to sell its games to Tencent. A ByteDance spokesperson told The Wall Street Journal on Tuesday that the company is still in talks with multiple potential buyers and has not yet finalized any deal with Tencent.
LatePost said that Zhaoxiguangnian hopes to sell several games to Tencent, including “Crystal of Atlan” and “Earth: Revival”.
ByteDance founded ChaoXiGuangNian in 2019 to challenge gaming industry leaders such as Tencent and NetEase, and has since invested billions of dollars in funding.
