Bystrzyca exceeds alarm level. Firefighters and soldiers raise the embankment

A company that is working nearby on the renovation of Wilkszyńska Street sent its heavy equipment to the scene to support the firefighters and the military. The construction manager immediately responded to the appeal of Wrocławskie Inwestycje, which supervises the investment on behalf of the city.

The water level in Bystrzyca in Wrocław is still rising

According to the IMWM forecast, tomorrow it will rise to as much as 353 cm, and will only start falling on Thursday, September 19, reaching 338 cm (still well above the alarm level).

A discharge of water from Mietków, which was one third larger, began on Tuesday (September 17) in the morning. It amounts to 60 cubic meters per second. Up until now, it was 40 meters. Usually, the Bystrzyca River flows at about 8 meters per second. Such a large discharge into Bystrzyca means that Wrocław must secure the Marszowice housing estate from Marszowicka Street (Leśnica housing estate).

Marszowicka Street has been closed from Główna Street. There is also no passage over Marszowicki Bridge. The routes of buses 123 and 923 have been changed.

The kindergarten and school on Marszowicka Street are closed. Despite the serious situation, all other facilities in Wrocław are operating normally.

The embankments are also being reinforced in other parts of the city.

Firefighters also reinforced the embankments along the Odra River. They raised the top of the embankments from Radwanice through Trestno, Blizanowice, Siechnice and further towards the Oława district, i.e. Kotowice to Zakrzów. The designated depressions were filled with bags. Today (September 17) in Trestno, flexible barriers filled with water are being deployed. In this way, firefighters are securing the top of the embankments.
