BYD makes its first stopover in Spain at the Port of Santander

The BYD Explorer NO.1 vessel has docked at the Port of Santander with 1,000 units of the BYD SEAL U DM-i model on board, destined for the Spanish market, in what is the first arrival of this vessel in a Spanish port.

SANTANDER · The president of the APS, César Díaz, said this morning that BYD’s commitment to the port of Santander for its first port of call in Spain is “magnificent news that gives us the opportunity to show our undeniable strengths as the best port for transport in Spain.”

A statement endorsed by the Spanish Association of Automobile and Truck Manufacturers (ANFAC), which always places Santander in the top positions of the Association’s evaluation, being the leader on nine of the sixteen occasions on which this ranking has been prepared, including the latest edition. For Díaz “this is a particularly significant recognition since it is the brands themselves who value the capabilities and the good work of the Spanish ports in their operations for this type of traffic”

The Explorer NO.1 ship, launched this year and belonging to the BYD company, world leader in plug-in vehicles and electric batteries, has docked in the Cantabrian dock with 1,000 units of the BYD SEAL U DM-i model on board, destined for the Spanish market. This is the first of the trips that the ship will make from China to Spain, allowing the direct import of both cars and spare parts.

The top representative of Cantabrian infrastructure has assured that “our objective is that, like many other brands, BYD continues to support us in the future and that this stopover becomes the first of many others.”

Díaz took the opportunity to congratulate all the agents involved in vehicle traffic for their daily efforts to ensure that Santander “is an example of efficiency, professionalism and, above all, a partner that can be trusted.”

This past June, the Port of Santander celebrated the arrival of the nine millionth vehicle at its facilities. A historic milestone that consolidates it as a benchmark for vehicle traffic on the Spanish Atlantic coast and as a key logistics centre, not only for Cantabria, but also for the whole of Spain and Europe.
