From Saturday, April 2nd, rail travelers will be able to travel to the Baltic Sea more frequently and faster with ICE and Intercity trains. With the start of the travel season, Deutsche Bahn is offering new additional connections to Rostock, Rügen, Usedom, Stralsund and Greifswald.
Between Berlin, Rostock and Warnemünde, further ICE and IC journeys will be offered until October 29 in addition to the existing two-hourly Intercity journeys, Deutsche Bahn announced.
Additional trips to and from Warnemünde
Starting at 12:08 p.m., an IC runs from Berlin Central Station without a stopover to Rostock (arrival at 1:59 p.m.) and Warnemünde (arrival at 2:20 p.m.). In the opposite direction, an ICE runs in the morning from Warnemünde from 10.14 a.m., from Rostock from 10.37 a.m., without a stopover to Berlin Central Station (arrival at 12.41 p.m.). The train then continues via Halle and Erfurt to Frankfurt am Main (arrival at 4:56 p.m.).
Another additional Berlin-Warnemünde train pair also stops in Oranienburg, Neustrelitz and Waren an der Müritz. Those who get up early can reach Warnemünde from April 2nd with an ICE train from Berlin (departure 5.35 a.m.) at 8.01 a.m. After an almost twelve-hour stay on the coast, you can now travel back to Berlin from there on Saturdays at 7.56 p.m. (arrival 10.24 p.m.).
Connections to Rügen, Usedom, Stralsund and Greifswald
In addition, from May 14 to October 1, 2022, an ICE will leave the Baltic Sea resort of Binz on Saturdays at 6:24 p.m. via Stralsund (7:24 p.m.) and Greifswald (7:46 p.m.) to Berlin Hauptbahnhof (arrival at 10:11 p.m.).
From April 2, 2022, Greifswald will also benefit from an intercity connection at 7:01 a.m. via Rostock (8:16 a.m.), Schwerin (9:18 a.m.) to Hamburg, Bremen and Cologne, which will also be offered on Saturdays all year round.
In total, up to six ICE/IC trains run between Berlin, Greifswald and Stralsund on Saturdays in the summer – sometimes even to the Baltic Sea resort of Binz. This also includes ICE journeys without changing trains from Munich, Erfurt and Leipzig as well as Cologne, Dortmund and Hanover. In Züssow, the connections to Usedom with the Usedomer Bäderbahn will be improved, for example on Saturdays from May 14 to October 1, 2022 in the ICE at 9.17 a.m. from Berlin and in the opposite direction at 11.31 a.m. from Züssow to Berlin (arrival at 1.37 p.m.) and on to Hanover and Cologne without having to change trains.
