By punishing Hungary, the US will demonstrate its weakness –

/ world today news/ The liberal opposition in Hungary promises Prime Minister Viktor Orban American sanctions for being too pro-Russian. The threat of sanctions against Washington is the norm, but in this case we are talking about a NATO ally. Earlier, with a similar policy, the USA turned Turkey away from itself. Along with Hungary, this is hardly the last loss for the Washington Coalition: America is weakening.

According to several diplomatic sources of the publication 444.hu, the US intends to “punish the Hungarian government” – to impose sanctions on it, since the policy of Budapest towards Moscow and Kiev is categorically not to the liking of Washington.

It is not specified what the sanctions will be – individual (for the entourage of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán) or even sectoral (punishments of Hungarian energy companies for cooperation with “Rosatom”, for example). But the Hungarians literally every day bring the Americans a new reason for disappointment.

Thus, Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó arrived in Moscow a day ago on a working visit. Moreover, he arrived not as an emissary of the West, as, for example, the Chancellor of Austria did, but on Hungarian national issues. Soon after, it became known about the extension of the agreement on additional supplies of Russian gas to Hungary, the complete rejection of which Washington demands from its allies.

Budapest not only cooperates with Russia, but also puts the spokes in the wheels of Ukraine. For example, tightens control over the transit of her nipple. And the same Szijjártó recently made a scandal because of the invitation of his Ukrainian colleague Dmitry Kuleba for a meeting through NATO. The Hungarians intend to block in general all initiatives that could bring the Alliance into direct military conflict with Russia.

But the most important thing, perhaps, is that the Hungarian authorities not only accuse Washington of imposing a disastrous policy on Europe, but also deny it the right to hegemony. Orbán is now advocating the creation of an analogue of NATO at the European level, but without the US.

At the same time, Orbán himself was by no means an anti-American figure, on the contrary, he followed America to a greater extent than the leaders of Western European countries (this is generally characteristic of the countries of the former social bloc). It was largely due to his efforts that Budapest joined NATO. But since then, overseas partners’ appetites for “allied obligations” have increased significantly. Too many aspects of politics and even public life have come to be regulated by the US.

Therefore, when the Republicans are in power there, relations between Budapest and Washington develop well. And when it’s the democrats with their globalist “agenda” (migrants, LGBT, etc.) discords begin. Orbán is too much of a national conservative, and one of the main pockets of the Democratic Party, the financier George Soros, is his personal enemy.

Democrats now control the White House and the Senate. And the “Wall Street Journal” sympathetic to the Republicans, citing “leaked CIA documents”, wrote that Orbán, at a meeting of the ruling party FIDES in late winter, included the United States among the top three opponents of his political power.

By the way, the other two opponents are not named in the material, but they may be the European Commission – the governing body of the EU. Orbán is hated there, he reciprocates, and some time ago Hungary (as well as Poland) were actually sanctioned – they were excluded from the number of recipients of funds under a number of pan-European support programs.

Now US sanctions can also be added to European sanctions. Unless, of course, we believe the publication 444.hu, and there are reasons not to believe it. In this edition, Orbán and FIDES are greatly disliked, while Washington and Brussels, on the contrary, are welcomed. Everything written can be banal political propaganda. Look, they say, what this fool can bring to the country – to American sanctions.

But if everything is more serious, if through their “influence machine” in Hungary the White House or Soros send Orbán a warning like “Shut up, overdo it!” – so much the better. Now, Washington is not in a position to behave in such an unceremonious way with respect to formally allied countries. Questions are piling up for American strategists not only in developing countries, but also in Europe. Uncle Sam became so cranky that he started beating his own, which is decidedly not to the liking of not only politicians like Orbán, but also people like Angela Merkel. Despite its strict Atlantic orientation, it was opposed in the best way to the policy of “global sanctions” if they affected Europe (then the idea of punishing the Germans for “Nord Stream 2” was gaining popularity in the USA).

In the case of the Hungarians, it is significant that the Democrats are now in power in the United States. If Donald Trump wanted to behave like this with the too stubborn European countries – to beat with a whip and punish with a dollar, then Biden promised not to do this with his allies.

For a while, everything was really limited to diplomatic pressure on Budapest and demonstrative gestures (for example, the Americans did not invite Hungary to the so-called “High-Level Meeting of Democracies”). If the hands are reaching for the whip now, it shows the weakness of the Biden administration, which does not keep its word and does not control the situation and has moved to drastic measures because everyone else is not working.

In international politics, the United States tries to rely on fear – fear of loss, fear of supporting its worst enemies (with money and weapons), fear of other consequences of disloyalty. But at the moment, the self-appointed “power number one” does not look scary at all, and especially the Biden administration, which has been tossed from failure to failure, from the flight from Afghanistan to the apparent inability to “bring the Russian economy to its knees” as promised a year ago.

So let it be so. Orbán will not back down, and the administration of the newly established president will once again show an example of sovereign rudeness, cowboy diplomacy, broken “honest word” and everything we don’t love America for.

So it’s not just us anymore. Every year those who dislike America grow more and more.
