Legacy operating systems will no longer be supported starting October 24, 2022. For iOS it will be valid on iOS 10 and iOS 11, can only be used on iOS 12 up to the latest.

Meanwhile, the Android 4.1 or later operating system can use WhatsApp after October 24, 2022. According to WhatsApp, every year the company examines every device and software that is outdated and has the least number of users.

“Like other tech companies, we annually review which devices and software are the oldest and have the fewest users to determine which support will be discontinued,” WhatsApp wrote, quoted by the platform’s official website.

There is no security update on the affected devices. Furthermore, some features also don’t work for WhatsApp.

If you are an iOS 10 or iOS 11 user, you need to upgrade to iOS 12 to use the app. Unfortunately, there are some iPhones that cannot be upgraded to a newer iOS.

There are iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S that use iOS 10 and iOS 11. Both of them can no longer use WhatsApp because iOS 12 is not compatible with these devices.
