Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon through the opening match BWF World Tour Finals 2021 perfectly. The Minions won the top two sets Lee Yang/Wang Chi-Lin.
The first match of Group A men’s doubles BWF World Tour Finals 2021 pitted Kevin/Marcus against the 2020 Olympic champions, Yang/Chi-Lin. The duel was held at Court 1 of the Bali International Convention Center, Wednesday (1/12/2021) night WIB.
The two pairs follow-up points at the beginning of the first game. Even though they were as strong as 5-5, Kevin/Marcus started to keep points away to 8-5, 9-6, to close the interval with an 11-7 advantage.
Couple Lee Yang/Wang Chi-Lin chased after the interval and equalized to 11-11, to a 12-11 superior turn. Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon turn things around to 13-12, but can be matched 13-13 by Yang/Chi-Lin.
Yang/Chi-Lin’s measurable smashes that Kevin/Marcus failed to contain made them 16-14, 17-15, 18-16 and 19-17 ahead of the Minions. The Indonesian representative equalized to 19-19.
Kevin/Marcus entered the points game with a 20-19 advantage, but Yang/Chi-Lin forced the points to be a 20-20 and 21-21 draw. Minions finally managed to finish the first set with a win 23-21.
The points followed again early in the second game, before Yang/Chi-Lin moved away with the position 7-3, 8-5, 9-6 and 10-7. The world number 25 men’s doubles reached the interval with an 11-9 advantage.
Kevin/Marcus equalized 11-11 after the interval, to turn over 13-12 and 14-13. The world number one pair is away 16-14, and consistently maintains a double-digit lead of 17-15 and 18-16.
The Minions entered match points with a 20-18 advantage. Lee Yang’s return error made Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon close the game with a win 21-19.
