BVB without Moukoko against the wolves

Bad news for BVB fans and those responsible: Borussia Dortmund has to do without prodigy Youssoufa Moukoko when restarting.

According to information from “Bild”, the 16-year-old is still out for the home game against VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday (3:30 pm) due to his knee problems.

Moukoko suffered the injury in the game at Union Berlin (1: 2) when he became the youngest scorer in the Bundesliga. The striker therefore already missed the subsequent cup game at the second division club Eintracht Braunschweig (2-0).

BVB striker Erling Haaland is available again for this. The Norwegian returns after tearing his hamstring. A circumstance that lets those responsible breathe a sigh of relief.

After all, Haaland is BVB’s life insurance company with 17 goals in 14 competitive games this season. Without him, the team only scored ten goals in seven games.

BVB wants to “improve significantly”

“We hope that all players were able to recharge their batteries a bit, got through the holidays healthy and that we can then work on some things that we need to improve,” said licensed game manager Sebastian Kehl to “Ruhr Nachrichten” at the start of training with a view to the said coming weeks.

It is clear to Kehl that BVB has to get the proverbial curve in 2021. “We want to improve significantly in the new year, present ourselves more consistently and thus successfully,” said the former captain.

The trend-setting weeks in the Bundesliga begin for Dortmund on Sunday with the game against VfL Wolfsburg. This is followed by the games against RB Leipzig, Mainz, Leverkusen, Gladbach and Augsburg in January.

After 13 match days, Borussia is only in fifth place in the table. The wolves, on the other hand, have two points more and occupy fourth place, which qualifies for participation in the Champions League.
