Frankfurt / Main (dpa) – The table runner-up Borussia Dortmund starts with several returnees in the second half of the Bundesliga. In the evening game at Eintracht Frankfurt, defense chief Mats Hummels is back in the starting line-up. Regular goalkeeper Gregor Kobel is also fit – both had a cold in the last game before Christmas at Hertha BSC. Coach Marco Rose has to do without Dan-Axel Zagadou and Marius Wolf after positive corona tests, Youssoufa Moukoko is sitting on the bench after a torn muscle fiber.
“I think Mats started the year under completely different conditions,” said Rose on Sky about Hummels. “He picked up the rhythm, he worked well. I think he has a completely different level of fitness now than at the beginning of the season.”
Eintracht can fall back on striker Jesper Lindström. The Dane who tested positive for the corona virus on Thursday is allowed to participate after repeated negative tests, as Eintracht announced shortly before the game. But coach Oliver Glasner has to do without midfielder Djibril Sow. In the case of the Swiss, the test results gave “no clear picture”.
