BVB with derby victory to restart – Labbadia inspires Hertha

Dortmund (dpa) – Borussia Dortmund has confirmed its title claims to restart the Bundesliga with an effortless derby victory. The second in the table gave FC Schalke 04 no chance at 4: 0 (2: 0) and reduced the gap to leaders FC Bayern to one point for the time being.

The Munich team will only return to the league with ghost games on Sunday at Union Berlin after a ten-week Corona break. RB Leipzig suffered a setback in the title race due to the 1-1 (0-1) home game against SC Freiburg. Borussia Mönchengladbach took advantage of this and improved to third place with a convincing 3: 1 (2: 0) at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Coach Bruno Labbadia celebrated a successful debut at Hertha BSC. The Berliners won 3-0 (0-0) at 1899 Hoffenheim and made room for themselves in the relegation battle. In contrast, coach Heiko Herrlich had to watch a 1: 2 (0: 1) of his FC Augsburg against VfL Wolfsburg from a box. The FCA coach had given up his debut on the bank of relegation-threatened Swabians because of a questionable shopping trip during the team quarantine.

Fortuna Dusseldorf and taillight SC Paderborn, who separated without a goalkeeper, also made no real progress in the struggle to stay in the league.

Dortmund’s super striker Erling Haaland scored the first goal after the Bundesliga started again. The 19-year-old Norwegian met the often overwhelmed Schalke in the 29th minute. Raphael Guerreiro (45th / 63rd) and Thorgan Hazard (48th) made BVB’s clear victory perfect. Schalke slipped down to eighth place.

The Leipzigers made an unexpected mistake, who have to fear that Bayern and Dortmund will pull away after the draw against Freiburg. Manuel Gulde (34th) even brought the Breisgau lead, Yussuf Poulsen equalized in the 77th minute.

As a result, the Saxons slipped into fourth place behind Gladbach. The Borussia got off to a perfect start. After 36 seconds Alassane Plea scored 1-0, Marcus Thuram increased to 2-0 in the 7th minute. After the 3: 0 by Ramy Bensebaini’s penalty kick (73.), the Frankfurt goal by André Silva (81.) was only cosmetic results.

Hertha was significantly improved in shape under new coach Labbadia. An own goal by Kevin Akpoguma (58th), Vedad Ibisevic (60th) and Matheus Cunha (74th) ensured a perfect premiere for the fourth head coach of the Berlin team this season.

However, his colleague Herrlich still has a lot of work to do, who was not allowed to have contact with the Augsburg team after his quarantine faux pas. A goal from Tin Jedvaj (54th) was not enough for the FCA. Renato Steffen (43.) and Daniel Ginczek (90. + 1) ensured the success of the Wolfsburg.
