BVB at Eintracht Frankfurt: grades and individual criticism

On Sunday afternoon, Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund delivered a spectacle in the Bundesliga. In their 1909th Bundesliga game, BVB showed a rather inconsistent performance and were ultimately well served with the 3-3 draw. All guest stars in the individual review:

TOR: Gregor Kobel (bis 25.) – Note: 3.0

Held strong with one hand against Larsson (4th), then chose the wrong corner for the penalty. Looked unfortunate when Buta finished before the 0-2 lead, but was then substituted with an injury.

Alexander Meyer (ab 25.) – Note: 2,5

Took over for the injured Kobel. Provided calm support and was safe to catch in tricky conditions. However, he was lucky that there was no penalty for his contact against Marmoush (36′); he was saved once by the post (45′).

DEFENSE: Marius Wolf – Grade: 4.5

Caused the early penalty with his handball (6th). Otherwise he rarely found access defensively. Made a lot of paths in vain at the front and was often inaccurate on the final pass.

Mats Hummels (bis 70.) – Note: 4,0

When Eintracht attacked directly, it was almost always too fast for him. Occasionally stopped advances by pushing them out, but always wobbled when it came to the matter in his own penalty area. Also left the secure 2:2 before the break.

Niklas Süle (from 70th) – grade: 3.5

It was easier in the final phase because Eintracht’s precision decreased. Didn’t offer much in this context, just let things come to them.

Nico Schlotterbeck – Note: 3.5

He repeatedly prevented anything worse from happening with his clearing efforts in his own penalty area and was particularly there in the last few minutes. However, he regularly lacked the speed of action in the penalty area when free balls were thrown.

Ramy Bensebaini – Note: 5.0

Was overrun at times with every attack. These scenes resulted in a number of great opportunities. Acted too passively before the 0:2, part of the chain of errors again when the third goal was conceded. Weak performance in the defensive line.

MITTELFELD: Salih Özcan – Note: 4.0

Was sometimes overwhelmed in counter defense against Frankfurt’s pace. Rarely took risks with the ball. There were therefore no serious errors, but also no highlights.

Marcel Sabitzer – Note: 3,0

Usually advanced to the last line and caused unrest there. Met very calmly at the connection. Due to the high field position in the backward movement, he made it very difficult for himself and was missing from many SGE attacks.

Marco Reus (bis 64.) – Note: 3.0

Thought straight forward on offense and could create things out of nothing. He played a decisive role in creating several chances and had good pressing moves. Nothing countable jumped out.

Julian Brandt (ab 64.) – Note: 2,5

Celebrated his comeback midway through the second half. Initiated the third goal conceded with a bad loss of the ball with a heel. Made up for the mistake by equalizing again. In the final phase one of the assets at BVB.

Donyell Malen (up to 45th) – Grade: 4.0

At certain points he escaped the grasp of his opponents. Had the first chance at the second post (3rd) and almost set up a goal for Bensebaini (23rd). But at times there is a lot of idling. Had to leave for the break.

Youssoufa Moukoko (ab 46.) – Grade:

Moved next to Füllkrug as the second tip and hit immediately. Netted against unsorted Frankfurters with his first shot (55th). As a result, he continued to occupy the right spaces, but was caught offside several times.

Gio Reyna (bis 45.) – Note: 4.5

Occasionally provided impetus with crosses from the left side. However, the interaction with Bensebaini was a problem. In this context, he clearly didn’t help enough on defense.

Karim Adeyemi (ab 46.) – Note: 3,5

He was active on the offensive, but was unsuccessful for a long time. Forced the score to 3-3 with his wing run, but had such moments too rarely. Had to invest a lot against the ball, which is obviously not his strength.

ATTACK: Niclas Füllkrug – Grade: 3.5

He repeatedly made technical errors, but his physicality was still a factor. Set up the goal for Sabitzer. Later it was less and less able to assert itself.
