The corona pandemic is far from over, but in football the wheel keeps on spinning. The first round of the DFB Cup will be drawn this Sunday in Cologne’s ARD “Sports Show” studio – just three weeks after the final between the FC Bayern and Bayer Leverkusen (4:2).
DFB President Fritz Keller is a lottery fee operate a very special draw: Unlike usual, the field of participants of the first cup round is not yet complete. The 36 first and second division teams and the four third division teams are Wurzburger Kickers, Eintracht Braunschweig, FC Ingolstadt and MSV Duisburg are mandatory. However, it is still uncertain which amateur clubs will start in the competition. The regional cup finals, the so-called “Day of Amateurs”, are scheduled to take place on August 22nd. However, one thing should not change this year either: Local officials in the club’s clubs in the republic are particularly hopeful for a lot – cup winners and record champions FC Bayern Munich.
