She could have chosen a clear path, that of the cinema. A universe in which his father reigns. But Sasha Spielberg, aka Buzzy Lee, has opted for music, and has just released her debut album called “Spoiled Love” on Future Classic.
After two EPs, the daughter of actress Kate Capshaw and the famous director is revealed a little more with an opus that mixes pop, folk and electro. “I really put everything into it, hence this vulnerable dimension, and the song” Circles “begins with a real entry in my diary,” she told AFP.
Sasha Spielberg, who associates for her pseudonym “Buzzy” (“buzzing”, in French) in reference to her outgoing and talkative side, and the first name of her paternal grandmother, Lee, began working on her piano-voice melodies after a sad love story that ended in Paris. The City of Light, this thirty-something knows it well having lived there in 2011 and followed courses at the University of Paris-8. It was also during this stay that she learned a few words of French. Today, she has fun with the language of Molière and remembers her culinary favorites, as evidenced by the title “Brie”, one of the tracks from “Spoiled Love”.
Behind this first opus, hides her accomplice Nicolas Jaar, with whom she created in the past the group Just Friends. Filmmaker, photographer and visual artist Alfredo Jaar’s son and Steven Spielberg’s daughter became friends at 18, when they were both students at Brown University in Rhode Island, USA. For more than ten years, he advises her on her voice, listens to all her proposals and produces her music.

As a child, she notably shot under the direction of her father in films as well known as “The Terminal”, “Munich” or “Indiana Jones”, then formed the group Wardell with her brother Theo, Sasha Spielberg does not seem not wanting to end up in front of the camera just yet. She is already working on a next album which she promises to release in 2022.
