Jack Dorseyco-founder and former CEO Twitterpraise Elon Musk after buying the company he founded with a value of USD 44 billion or around Rp. 635 trillion. Dorsey said Musk’s decision to take Twitter was the right first step.
Dorsey lent his support to Musk after the board of directors approved the SpaceX and Tesla CEO’s offer to buy Twitter for $54.20 per share.
“Twitter as a company has always been a major issue and my biggest regret. It has belonged to Wall Street and its advertising model. Taking it back from Wall Street was the right first step,” Dorsey said in a tweet, as quoted by Cnet, Tuesday (26/4). /2022).
In a subsequent tweet, Dorsey cites Musk as the only solution he believes in. “I believe in its mission to expand the light of consciousness,” Dorsey wrote, referring to a previous tweet calling Twitter a ‘global consciousness’.
Musk first made his bid to buy Twitter earlier this month after buying a 9.2% stake in Twitter. Twitter was initially expected to turn down the offer, but they began to consider it after Musk explained his funding plans, including debt from Morgan Stanley.
While Musk is an active Twitter user, he is also one of his biggest critics. The world’s richest man has criticized Twitter’s moderation policies on several occasions and has signaled they will relax their moderation policies.
“Elon’s goal of creating a platform that is ‘maximum trusted and broadly inclusive’ is the right one. This is also @paraga’s goal, and why I chose it,” said Dorsey in a subsequent tweet, referring to Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal.
“Thank you to both of you for bringing the company out of an impossible situation. This is the right path… I believe with all my heart,” he continued.
