An unnamed customer recounts his dining experience at Cafe Esquires, Eyre Square, Ireland.

He shared his food bill receipt on social media. Launching mirros.co.uk (06/07), it is clear the orders and prices for food ranging from coffee latte to porridge.

Judging from the receipt, this customer actually only ordered two meals. But it looks like the restaurant has added an extra charge to the meal bill.

However, it turns out that every additional topping such as berries, nuts, and maple sauce ordered by the customer, is included in the bill. No wonder if the total reached Rp. 245 thousand.

On this basis, the customer feels he has been ‘cheated’ by the restaurant. He uploaded a photo of his meal receipt to Facebook with the caption, “Experience at the Café today located in Esquires, Eyre Square. I ordered coffee and porridge. Both standard. Nothing special,” he wrote.

Too disappointed and upset, he also said that he would claim this incident as a form of ‘fraud’.

He admitted that the price was very unreasonable for a portion of porridge with a few toppings and ordinary oat milk coffee.

Feeling cheated, this customer finally wrote clearly that he would not return to the restaurant. “You can tell that most of the customers are tourists. Will never come back here,” he said.

It turned out that this protested restaurant gave a quick response. In response to the problem, the restaurant tries to straighten out and clarify what happened.

Colm McDonagh as the owner of the restaurant stepped in and said that he was quite disappointed with the bad reviews from customers.

He said that for 7 years the restaurant was established, not a single customer complained to him.

After being accused of being a fraud, the restaurant explained that every menu was accompanied by price which obviously even goes up to the price for the extra extras.

They also don’t force customers to choose the menu. He felt that in his restaurant there was no compulsion and deception in any form.

Colm also explained that the increase in the cost of raw materials was their main factor to increase the cost of raw materials price sell food.

Colm will be very open to any comments including prices. However, he regretted that the customer commented on social media.

Colm admitted that since the Covid-19 pandemic, the state of his restaurant business was on the verge of difficulties. Initially he had 15 employees, but now he only has 4 employees.

He also continues to cook as much as possible with quality ingredients, and serves customers wholeheartedly.

This incident may not have been entirely the fault of the restaurant, but also the fault of the customer.

Maybe customers feel cheated because price the food is quite expensive, but the taste is very ordinary. Plus the customer did not pay attention to the menu in detail. He was surprised by the total price of his order.
