“But she was just sick”: a common flu deprived a woman of her arms and legs – doctors amputated them, but miraculously saved her life

The terrible consequences of the flu became known

The 42-year-old American woman was one of those who faced terrible complications from the flu. The principal of one of the high schools in Ohio, Christine Fox, almost died from this dangerous virus in March 2020. At first she did not pay attention to the symptoms, and when she felt worse, she turned to doctors. Lenta.ru writes about this.

The condition was so difficult that the woman was immediately connected to a ventilator. The doctors had nothing to please Kristin; she was honestly told that there was almost no chance of survival. Bacterial pneumonia was already in full control of the body, the American woman’s kidneys and lungs had already failed.

A few days later, septic shock was added to the existing problems, because of which the doctors made the difficult decision – to amputate Christine’s legs and arms. This was the only chance to get the woman out of the other world.
Then a miracle happened – a few days after the serious operation, the patient was brought out of the coma, then she began to breathe on her own, the ventilator was no longer needed.

Of course, after finishing treatment for pneumonia caused by the flu, Christine Fox needed rehabilitation. The woman showed amazing courage and after several courses of physical therapy was able to return to work at school.

Previously, scientists have established what two-hour stress leads to.
