Barcelona –
Sergio Busquets suffered an ankle injury. He was in danger of being absent for a moment Barcelona face Manchester United.
Barcelona beat Sevilla 3-0 in the Spanish League continued match at the Camp Nou Stadium, Monday (5/2/2023) in the morning WIB. El Barca’s three goals were born through Jordi Alba, Gavi and Raphinha.
This result keeps Barcelona firmly at the top of the LaLiga standings with 53 points. They are eight points ahead of Real Madrid in second place.
However, Barcelona’s victory in this match took its toll. Sergio Busquets suffered an injury after a duel with Youssef En-Nesyri.
The 34-year-old midfielder then had to be pulled out when the game had only been running for seven minutes. He was replaced by Franck Kessie. An examination revealed that Busquets had a sprained ankle.
“Tests on Monday morning showed that team captain Sergio Busquets has sprained the external lateral ligament of his left ankle. He will not be able to play until he recovers. This was due to a collision with En-Nesyri in the 7th minute of the game against Sevilla on Sunday in Spotify Camp Nou, the midfielder had to leave early from the match,” read a Barcelona statement.
Busquets is expected to be out until the end of February due to the injury. The player from Spain is threatened with being absent in Barcelona’s four matches.
Including in the duel against Manchester United in the play-off round of the Europa League knockout stage. Barcelona will host MU on February 17 in the first leg before visiting Old Trafford on February 24.
Busquets’ absence could be a big loss for Barcelona. The reason is, he is almost irreplaceable in midfield. Busquets has only missed LaLiga twice this season.
