Oslo, August 1, 2024. A new education law came into force in Norway on August 1. It manages the daily school life of 820,000 children and young people. The biggest changes in the regulations relate to the practical implementation of the extended rights to secondary education. The new rules in the law are primarily aimed at helping more people enter professional life. With the new education law, students have the right to use the time they need to complete upper secondary school. The new law also clarifies and specifies the rules for the school environment, including when a teacher can physically intervene. A new college and university law has also come into force.
