Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The government formed the Covid-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery Committee. The committee consists of a Policy Committee, Co-19 Handling Task Force, and the National Economic Recovery and Transformation Task Force.
The Policy Committee will be chaired by Coordinating Minister (Menko) Economy Airlangga Hartarto. While the Executive Chair was held by the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir.
Kadin Chairman Rosan P. Roeslani, has high hopes for the Airlangga-Erick duet. He also appreciated the fast pace of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who acted quickly to restore the economy.
“We frankly appreciate the President who acted quickly by sealing Pak Airlangga with the chief executive, Mr. Erick Thohir. Because if we look background“Pak Erick Thohir is also a businessman before and now in government,” he said in a national survey released by the Indonesian Political Indicators on Tuesday (7/21/20).
It is said, Erick Thohir has a closeness with entrepreneurs, so that it is relevant as a bridge between the government and entrepreneurs. This is done to accelerate programs that have not been implemented well.
“So maybe by being able to bridge things in the first frame, it might encourage the implementation of all government policies that we have seen so far, it is rather slow in terms of implementation,” he said.
From this new team, Rosan hopes that Airlangga and Erick Thohir will not only focus on health care. But also recovery the economy in order to be more targeted.
“Because especially for SMEs and the business as a whole so that the contractions that occur are not getting deeper. Because if these contractions get deeper and longer certainly recoveryit will also increasingly costly“he stressed.
Coupled with the composition of the team under Airlangga, it is expected that a balance will be made between health management and handling economic impacts.
“If we see positive things, we must support them together. We will provide input together so that this task force can do positive things,” he said.
