A fatal motorcycle accident claimed the life of a 40-year-old businessman in Dhaka, Bangladesh on Wednesday afternoon. Jahangir Alam Sohag, known as Sohag, was struck by a speeding covered van near the kakrail Justice Bus Building.
The incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. local time. According to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Ramna police station Sub-Inspector Sirajul Islam, the impact of the collision threw both the van driver and Sohag from their vehicles. Tragically, Sohag died instantly.
“After receiving the news, we recovered his body from the scene,” Islam stated. “Following legal procedures, it was transported to Dhaka Medical College Morgue for an autopsy.”
Police swiftly apprehended the covered van driver and impounded the vehicle.
Sohag’s elder brother, Shah Alam, described his younger brother as a dedicated businessman with an office located in the Nayapaltan China Building. ”I received the devastating news this afternoon about his road accident,” Alam shared.
Sohag hailed from Yadurchar Purvapara village in Kurigram Roumari upazila. He resided in a rented house on East Sheorapara Road Jamtala in Kafrul with his family, including his wife and two young children – a son and a daughter.
