Businessman Agus Hartono allegedly tortured: head swollen and bleeding

Jakarta, CNNI Indonesia

Entrepreneur from Semarang Agus Hartono has admitted being tortured as he was about to fulfill a summons to be questioned as a suspect High Court (Kejati) Central Java.

Agus’ lawyer Kamaruddin Simanjuntak said the torture incident happened when he arrived at Ahmad Yani Airport, Semarang on Thursday (12/22). Kamaruddin, who accompanied his client, said the action happened so fast.

“I left Jakarta at 05:00 WIB, to fulfill their call at 09:00 WIB, but I was kidnapped on a Garuda plane at 08:30 WIB when I landed at Semarang airport,” he told reporters on Thursday ( 22/12).

Kamaruddin explained that at the time he was sitting on a row of benches with Agus Hartono and a staff member named Yudi. He who was sitting on the edge of the post then immediately moved towards the exit as soon as the plane landed.

Meanwhile, Agus Hartono and his personal staff who departed afterwards suddenly disappeared after stepping off the plane. He admitted that he only found out the whereabouts of his missing client after receiving a report from personal staff.

He also protested when his client received a third call from Kejati Jateng. According to him, Agus has just received his first call letter.

This is because the Central Java Attorney’s Office previously only sent summonses via WhatsApp and it was considered uncommon.

Furthermore, Kamaruddin later suspected that his client had also suffered torture during the arrest process by the Central Java High Court. Because when he got to meet Agus, he found a series of wounds on different parts of his client’s body.

“I heard Agus’s voice faintly in the pidsus room. The room was closed, I pushed him, apparently he had been beaten inside,” she explained.

“He was already bleeding, his head was swollen, then his hands were bleeding, then his knees and calves were bleeding,” she continued.

Separately, the Chief of the Attorney General’s Office (Ketut Sumedana) denied that the Central Java Prosecutor had kidnapped and tortured Agus. He also called on Agus’ group to report him to the police if it was true that he had experienced this.

“If there are such attempts, please report them to the police, we are law enforcement, it is impossible to break the law,” he explained.

Ketut pointed out that the Central Java Prosecutor’s Office arrested Agus Hartono only at Ahmad Yani Airport, Semarang, because he failed to summon for questioning as a suspect three times.

“(Agus’ position) is currently in the Central Java Attorney General’s Office,” he explained.
