Solidarity with the Ukrainian people continues in Eure-et-Loir. This time, it was business leaders from the Chartres Initiatives club who set up a collection of donations, bought basic necessities and care products, then organized their delivery to Poland.
“Among our members, we have the cover company Ruellan, which has had a Polish employee for about ten years. In the first days of the invasion, Genek went to deliver, spontaneously and alone, equipment to Poland. On his return, he sensitized his employer who wanted to do something. The latter spoke about it to the business club and we were all enthusiastic to take concrete action”, testifies Olivier Dupuy, president of Chartres initiatives which has about forty members.
This group then created the association Chartres initiatives missions, in order to collect, online, financial donations, tax deductible, receipt in support. In total, this association, called upon to carry out other projects in the future, raised nearly 25,000 euros. Part of this sum was used to buy first aid products, medicines, hygiene products, childcare products…, according to the list of needs identified by the civil security of Czestochowa, of which the son of Genek. “We had donations from the Chartres hospital, too”, specifies Olivier Dupuy.
To transport them there, club companies have provided four trucks. “With the money, the idea was to buy the equipment to fill them and to be able to pay for transport, fuel and highways. »
Loaded in three hours, Wednesday April 6, by about twenty people, they left Eure-et-Loir, at 6 am, this Thursday April 7. This convoy also carries some of the donations collected by Chartres Métropole.
Driven by business leaders and others
accompanied by Genek, the vehicles should arrive overnight in Czestochowa. “On site, the care products (disinfectants, compresses, etc.) will be transferred to another truck which will go to Ukraine”, specifies Olivier Dupuy.
The President also mentioned a new operation in favor of Ukraine, the form of which remains to be defined. “With the remaining money, either we will organize a new convoy, or we will rely on an association on the spot, worthy of trust…”
