The Economic Climate Indicator (ICE) in Latin America, from the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) advanced from 70.5 to 81.2 points between the 1st and 2nd quarters of 2021.
According to the FGV, expectations for the coming months are optimistic. However, the perception of the current situation remains unfavorable.
In Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay, the pandemic was the main problem indicated by the survey. Lack of confidence in economic policy is also a very serious problem in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador and Mexico.
The improvement in world demand and the increase in the prices of raw materials have a positive influence on the revision of economic growth for 2021 in most of the countries of the region.
In the case of Paraguay, corruption, the Covid-19 pandemic, slow immunization and a lack of innovation as well as a skilled workforce are the main problems that negatively affect the economic climate.
