A business class passenger drew attention by posting a story about ordering a vegan breakfast and receiving a banana.
According to The Independent, passenger A recently boarded a Japanese flag flight JAL from Jakarta, Indonesia to Tokyo, Japan, and left a review on the flight information website ‘Fly Talk’.
He wrote, “I applied for a vegetarian meal (VGML) before my resume, and I received a banana,” and “At first, I thought it was an appetizer that was part of the meal.”
However, no matter how long I waited, other food was not served. “The bananas were in really good shape, but I thought they were more suitable as a snack,” he said. “Later, I got spaghetti with barely any seasoning for lunch, but the bananas were really disappointing.”
This isn’t the first time an airline has offered passengers poor vegan meals. Last year, a woman on an Air Canada flight wrote a review saying she was surprised to be offered a bottle of water after ordering a vegetarian meal.
Another travel blogger, Miriam Porter, became a hot topic when posting the video on TikTok, saying, “I was served a meal containing fruit left over from a business class passenger’s meal.” This video has been viewed over 1 million times.
The Independent said they had contacted the airline about the vegan meal featured in Mr. A’s review, but had not yet received a response.
A netizen who came across this story commented, “On Japan Airlines flight JL720 (Jakarta-Haneda), breakfast is not served, only lunch is served. It is not that Japan Airlines did not prepare vegan wheat, so it was not rushed to provide bananas, but it seems to be a snack.”
