The peak of crowds was at 5:30 pm, when 1,220 kilometers of traffic jam were recorded. According to Rijkswaterstaat, people experienced the most delays on the A4 to Rotterdam. There were 19 kilometers of traffic jams between Zoeterwoude-Dorp and the Ketheltunnel and the delay was 1.5 hours.
However, Thursdays are often crowded on the street, when most people go to the office. November is also a busy month, according to the ANWB spokesperson. Few people are on vacation during that time. The ANWB therefore expects even more intense evening rush hours this month.
The previous record this year was around Ascension Day. Then there were more than 1,120 kilometers of traffic jams as many people left that evening for a holiday address.
