Frank Buschmann and Wolff-Christoph Fuss have been lending their voices to EA Sports’ video game for years. Now the commentator himself confirms his successors.
It is the end of an era! Frank Buschmann and Wolff-Christoph Fuss are leaving EA Sports’ long-standing successful football simulation series “EA Sports FC 24”, formerly known under other licensing rights as “FIFA”. The successors to the cult commentators had long been kept secret – until Monday.

Not only did EA Sports release a trailer and the names of the two heirs in the late afternoon, but predecessor “Buschi” himself confirmed the information of a previous Bild-Article via Instagram post: Florian “Schmiso” Schmidt-Sommerfeld and Jan Platte will lend their voices to the video game starting with the issue that will be released in late autumn.
FIFA: “Schmiso” and Platte follow Buschmann and Fuss
“So, the cat is out of the bag! I have been giving the game my voice since 2011. First with Manni Breuckmann, then from 2016 with Wolff Fuss. That chapter is over. Three years ago I actually wanted to get out of the whole thing, now new commentators have been found,” the commentary legend began the post.
He continued with a touch of irony: “I would like to take this opportunity to ask you to direct any future complaints and insults directly to Schmiso and Jan. Or, even better, to think first and then complain!”

Schmidt-Sommerfeld is known to German-speaking sports fans particularly through the NFL, and the 34-year-old celebrated his TV breakthrough on ranNFL on ProSiebenMaxx. Sky as well as RTL Buschmann’s commentator and podcast partner has been under contract – for years, the Munich native has been commentating on both American football and various soccer games, especially the Premier League top game.
Record: “A real accolade”
“Being a commentator in EA SPORTS FC 25 still feels a bit surreal. I’ve been playing the series since I was very young and now it’s something like a childhood dream come true,” quoted the Bild Schmidt-Sommerfeld: “I won’t really understand it until I hear myself playing for the first time.”
Platte also seemed to be completely over the moon: “It’s a real honor that we’ve been trusted to be involved in such a big game. We hope that the fans of EA SPORTS FC 25 enjoy our commentary as much as we enjoy our work in the recording studio.”
The long-time football reporter has been commenting for the streaming platform since 2016 DAZN mainly football games from the Bundesliga, La Liga and Champions League. Now he himself has arrived in the premier league of football video game series.
