Tulungagung – A bus hit by train at the Tulungagung crossing. Four people died in the accident.
Kedungwaru Police Chief AKP Siswanto said the accident occurred between the train and the Harapan Jaya AG 7679 US bus at an unstoppable crossing in Ketanon Village, Kedungwaru District at 05.16 WIB.
“What happened this morning, this is still an evacuation process. This was the train after five in the morning,” said Siswanto, Sunday (27/2/2022).
According to Siswanto, there are currently four victims who have been declared dead. The other victims were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.
“The number of victims has yet to be ascertained, but for the time being there are four victims who have been put in body bags. Meanwhile, the others have been taken to the hospital,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Public Relations Manager PT KAI Daop VII Madiun Ixfan Hendriwintoko confirmed the accident. The train is the Dhoho train hull number KA 531 for Blitar-Kertosono.
“The accident at 5.16 WIB on KM 159+5 between Tulungagung and Ngujang stations,” said Ixfan.
As a result of the accident the front of the locomotive was dented and the train journey was disrupted.
“As for the condition of the crew and passengers, we are still waiting for information from the field. Currently there is a request for a locomotive replacement from the driver,” said Ixfan.
