The incident happened around noon on the Mgr. Nolenslaan. The driver had spoken to the perpetrator, a man, about not wearing a mouth mask. He would have hit her in the face several times.
She had to be taken to the hospital post by ambulance. “She is very upset by what happened, this is terrible to experience,” said a spokesman for bus operator Arriva.
Last Tuesday, a 67-year-old bus driver in Amsterdam was severely beaten by a passenger, who was refused access to the bus because he was not wearing a mouth mask. Shortly afterwards, Public Transport Netherlands (OV-NL) reported that 150 incidents are registered every week involving mouth masks in public transport.
