The day after a bus accident on Marquette Street, the Séminaire de Sherbrooke wrote in a letter to parents that the two people taken to the hospital on Monday “are doing well” and have “no injuries” .
Remember that Monday, late in the afternoon, a bus full of teenagers which was parked near the school backed up and hit a car traveling towards Frontenac Street.
While the players of the youth football team were on a school bus, waiting to leave for their training, a breakdown occurred and the bus began to reverse on Marquette Street, causing a car to crash into a power pole. . One of our players and the driver of the car were transported to hospital as a precaution, indicates the Séminaire de Sherbrooke in its message.
Speakers met the young people of the Seminary and the football team Tuesday morning.
The football team showed up in good spirits and we salute their exemplary behavior during this incident. Rest assured that we are in communication with the transport company on compliance with the protocols in place. Our priority is, and always will be, the safety and well-being of our students.
A quote from Le Séminaire de Sherbrooke in a letter to parents
Second accident in two years
An accident with several similarities to that of Monday occurred in almost the same place two years ago.
On October 20, 2022, a school bus containing a dozen students from a sports team from the Séminaire de Sherbrooke had indeed ended its course against an electrical pole. Contacted by Radio-Canada, the Sherbrooke Police Service (SPS) confirmed that it was a mechanical breakdown that caused the 2022 incident.
An investigation is underway to determine the causes of the most recent event, which occurred in front of several witnesses.
The bus company does not wish to comment at this time
The president of bus B. Dion and Autobus Dubé prefers for the moment not to comment on the accident involving one of his drivers, since an investigation is underway.
Our thoughts are with the people who were injured and all those who experienced the situation, said Pierre Tourville.
