Some people waste the designation of gunner, but it fits Buryšek perfectly. After all, last season for Střešovice, he scored an unbelievable 51 goals in thirty games, which earned him a move up three competitions. He regularly trampled defenses in Class A with regular goal allocations, scoring four goals in one game three times this season, adding five hat-tricks to that. That’s why Admira pointed to him in the summer.
However, a closer examination of the wonderful story of Buryšek reveals other interesting things. Not long ago, he was just an ordinary all-rounder who kicked the ball for fun, and there are thousands of them in the lower leagues. “I wasn’t even a striker, I didn’t score many goals,” the Admiry forward revealed his past.
“When I was young, I played everything but attack, which is such a paradox,” he explained. “In Střešovicky Béček, I started as a defensive midfielder, and then I gradually worked my way up and finally found a place at the point,” Burýšek revealed that his shooting skills remained completely hidden until recently.
But honestly, it’s hard to believe. After all, in the cup duel with Jablonec, he jumped into the game shortly after the break and after only five minutes on the set, he established himself with a style that even seasoned league bombers would not be ashamed of. He found a center from the left side, laid himself in it and unleashed a geyser of joy from the home fans with a wonderful fish. Although it was only an honorable intervention, as the favored Jablonec, playing almost in full fire, at that moment already led by four goals, the whole of Admira and especially Burýšek will surely remember him for a long time.
Which was also evident from the player’s own post-match narrative. He had a hard time hiding his smile, even though the final defeat of 1:5, which fully corresponded to the expectations on paper and the clash between a third-league team and a first-league team, of course made him sad. “The emotions are a bit bittersweet, it’s not pleasant to lose like that. On the other hand, it’s also an experience for me, it’s a great feeling that I can compete with a first league team. I haven’t played much against league footballers in my life,” Burýšek recalled.
In his youth, he spent some time as a player for Dukla Prague, after which he moved to Motorlet, where he first tried adult football, mainly in the reserve team. In 2019, he transferred to the fateful Střešovice, where he only made it three times in the first two, a season shortened by covid measures. In the 2021/22 season, nineteen goals, thanks to a change in the lineup, finally hinted at a hitherto unknown attacking potential, and you already know it. 51 goals and a lasso from Admira, for which he was now shooting against the first league defense.
Burýšek is one of the few players in the country who could experience two diametrically different confrontations in competitive matches in such a short period of time. First with amateur teams, operating in the sixth highest competition, and then with a first league opponent. “The difference is huge, there is much more running,” he admitted without excuse. “In the VA class, I was able to rest on the tip, here I always have to close some space, or be in the run-up. It can be seen that even though Jablonec is at the bottom of the table, it is much better than us, even in terms of football.”
Fortunately for Burýšek, who earns his living as a stockbroker, at least the first league goal won’t cost him much. “There will probably be no fine. We already had the registration fee, so I paid as a rookie,” grinned the shooter, who wrote perhaps one of the most beautiful stories of this year’s MOL Cup. And precisely because of such, organizing a cup competition will always make sense.
