Burriana City Council Approves Credit Modification to Address Repairs and Increased Expenses

CASTELLO. The Burriana City Council has approved in an Extraordinary Plenary Session a credit modification of more than 1.4 million euros to address, among several issues, the repairs caused by the thermal burst in the municipality’s public buildings and the increase in the accumulated electricity cost since last January.

Furthermore, the replacement of the definitive guarantee modality of the contract for ‘Demolition of the building and construction of the new IES Jaume I teaching center in Burriana’ to the company Acciona Construction has been approved unanimously by all political groups.

Regarding the serious situation of public buildings, there are several infrastructures that have been detected in poor condition by the technical services of the city council, even before Burriana suffered the strong gusts of wind and torrential rains, and that after the thermal burst have aggravated their situation considerably.

A priority and an urgency since among the buildings affected, for which an allocation of more than 180,000 euros has been dedicated, are the Rafel Martí Viciana Municipal Arts Center, the CMC La Mercè, the Town Hall itself, the Payà Theater , the Llar Fallero, the Taronja Museum, the Philharmonic Building, the Air Raid Shelter, and some of the public educational centers in the town.

Increase in expenses

In this sense, the storm has also caused an increase in gardening expenses, caused by an increase in the number of actions and the fall of trees. Likewise, an item of 60,000 euros has been approved for the maintenance and conservation of public roads, and another for current electricity costs, amounting to 470,000 euros, due to the increase in electricity bills accumulated since last January.

For his part, the Treasury councilor, Alejandro Clausellhighlighted that “the Government team has needed a budget modification to repair all public buildings, due to poor maintenance and damage caused by the thermal burst.”

Likewise, the mayor of Burriana, Jorge Monferrer Daudí He wanted to personally convey to the opposition groups that “Burriana is congratulated by the announcement of the Generalitat’s largest investment in the municipality with the construction of the new treatment plant”, and has valued that “an infrastructure, of such depth and relevance for Burriana, deserves the consensus of all political parties.”
