The environmental scandal at Blausee in the Bernese Oberland, in which thousands of trout perished, has one more spicy piece of news. The public prosecutor’s office in Bern-Oberland muzzled the three owners of Blausee AG. “The public prosecutor’s office has ordered that we are not allowed to say anything until December 31, 2021,” says Chairman of the Board of Directors Stefan Linder, who owns the Blausee together with Globetrotter President André Lüthi and former National Bank President Philipp Hildebrand. They had filed criminal charges of property damage and violations of environmental law because various companies had allegedly disposed of poisonous railway gravel in a quarry above Lake Blausee. The three plaintiffs are no longer allowed to talk about it. Linder is not even allowed to give the reason that the public prosecutor has given – otherwise he would break the muzzle. The public prosecutor could not be reached for comment. Linder says: “We cannot understand that we are no longer allowed to say anything about such a thing, which is of great public interest.”
