Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has refused to discuss potential interest in Tottenham Hotspur’s currently vacant role.
90 minutes He understands that Kompany is one of the names that the Spurs are considering, who are looking for the definitive replacement for Antonio Conte. However, sources at Tottenham have played down the rumor that the impressive Belgian is the first choice.
When asked about links to Tottenham and his future at Burnley, Kompany said: “It’s not at the forefront of my thoughts at all. Wherever I am, in my head, it’s always the greatest job in the world.”
Asked if he was happy at Turf Moor, the 37-year-old insisted he was, having already sealed the Clarets’ promotion to the Premier League with six games to go.
I know the question, but what can I say? I am not happy? We are 14 points clear at the top of the Championship,” said the former Manchester City captain.
«I don’t waste answers about my future. I’ve said that from day one at Burnley, anticipating that one day there would be questions like this. I’m focusing on reading and upcoming games.
“It is an enviable place to work. We have infrastructure, we have talent, it’s a nice place to work.”
Kompany was previously in charge of Belgian giants Anderlecht, where he began his own playing career, taking charge of Burnley last summer.
