The problem starts with a stove where castle lord Martien has thrown too much wood. For that reason the fire is too strong and smoke comes out on all sides. “This is the worst thing I’ve ever experienced here,” he says. Martien gets help from daughter Maxime. The two try to get the burning pieces of wood out of the stove and throw sand on it, but it is all in vain.
Ultimately, the stove makes a very strange noise and then panic strikes completely. Maxime discovers the fire. “Daddy! Fire!” she shouts. Martien then walks out and sees the smoke coming from the chimney of Chateau Marillaux. Erica arrives just in time, calls the fire department. Meanwhile, Martien runs around his estate like a headless chicken, in total panic.

Eventually the fire is extinguished and the family can breathe a sigh of relief. The damage also seems to be not too bad. “Girl, how sorry this is,” says Maxime. Although the situation is anything but funny for the Meiland family, it does provide hilarious television. The viewers think it is a fantastic funny episode.
It made a big impression on Martien. “I’ve never been so scared,” he says. “I was afraid it would go completely wrong,” he says, almost crying. And to make matters worse, Martien’s eyelashes are also burnt.
