Burkinabé rapper Smarty becomes UNICEF goodwill ambassador

The Burkinabè musician thus joins a hundred other artists, athletes and personalities around the world who put their talent at the service of the promotion of the rights of the child. “We are very happy to count Smarty among the children’s champions of Burkina Faso! Talented and humble, he is a positive model for children and young people, ”said Dr Anne Vincent, UNICEF Representative in Burkina Faso.

According to Dr Anne Vincent, Smarty had already collaborated with the organization and knew how to appropriate its values, its messages. She also indicated that this appointment is not surprising since Smarty knows how to handle words and use punchy formulas.

In return, Smarty expressed his joy at this nomination which, according to him, places him at the top of utility. Also, he invited his compatriots to commit themselves to build together a better world for all children.

His real name, Louis Salif Kiekieta, Smarty had experienced difficult situations himself as a child. Having left school too early for lack of means, he managed to do so thanks to Hip-hop and became the winner of the RFI Discoveries Prize in October 2013 with the album “Afrikan Kouleurs”. As National Goodwill Ambassador, Smarty will be asked to actively participate in UNICEF’s special events in order to strengthen advocacy on behalf of children.
