Burgundy-Franche-Comté. 8,000 Côte-d’Oriens still without 4G, the region lags behind for very high fixed speed

A brake on the competitiveness of companies

If we all think of the slowdowns or slowness observed on our computers or our connected objects at home, the limited offer in fixed very broadband is also a problem for companies in the region.

Indeed, on October 1, 2019, 61% of them did not have very high fixed speed (30 Mbits / s) and they were even 28% not to have access to a good fixed speed (8Mbits / s). On the scale of the Côte-d’Or, the situation is a little better with 51% and 23% of companies respectively in this case.

Some companies do not have broadband access

In addition, INSEE lists around 1,320 professional establishments that have neither fixed broadband nor mobile broadband. “These are almost exclusively small structures that do not employ an employee, such as small businesses. They are logically located in places lacking in digital coverage, namely the north of the Côte-d’Or, the Morvan and the southern Jura “, specify the authors of the study.

Dijon and Besançon, engines

Conversely, 64,000 establishments, or 37% of all establishments in the region, are particularly well covered with very high fixed and mobile broadband.

The vast majority are located in Côte-d’Or and Doubs under the effect of the agglomerations of Dijon and Besançon, but also in Saône-et-Loire, thanks to the urbanized Chalon-sur-Saône-Mâcon axis.

Good points for these areas since “good digital coverage is possibly an argument in the business location strategy”.
