Burglary Spree in Rhine-Main Area: Six Men Confess to Crimes

Six men confessed to having committed a series of burglaries in the Rhine-Main area before the Frankfurt district court. The youngest defendant is said to have been an adolescent at the time of the crime.

The six suspects between the ages of 19 and 34 admitted that they broke into offices and business premises in the middle of last year. The burglaries spread across several cities, including Darmstadt, Bad Soden (Main-Taunus) and Mainz.

However, the alleged robberies are not always said to have been successful: According to the indictment, the men had to leave without having achieved anything after burglaries in Darmstadt, Bad Soden and Mainz.

On the one hand, because police patrols accidentally disturbed them twice, on the other hand, because the men often did not manage to get into the buildings.

45,000 euros stolen in the office

Only when they broke into an office in Frankfurt’s Bahnhofsviertel did the accused succeed in looting 45,000 euros in cash and several watches. However, a planned attack on a couple in Bürstadt (Bergstraße) marked the end of their series.

Shortly thereafter, the accused were gradually arrested. They suspected 300,000 euros in cash in the couple’s safe, but could not strike anymore.

confession in court

The allegations were largely admitted by the accused: They usually met in the apartment of an accomplice in Frankfurt-Höchst to prepare. They drove to the crime scene in their car. The burglaries are said to have been carried out with alternating participation. The main suspect is a 34-year-old man.

The trial before the juvenile court is expected to last until early September. The youngest accused was still an adolescent at the time of the crime.
